| Who
is Karlin
of Quakertown ? |
|
The business started as a hobby. Sound familiar ? We know
many of you are in that position
today. Also as some of you, still more hobby than business as far as profit goes. First
let me
introduce myself and my wife Linda.
I am Scotty, Stuart Scott is my full name, and I am usually
the person you talk to on the phone.
I'm first and foremost Linda's husband and was a full time Sales Trainer for Real Estate
Agents
and Brokers. I am now involved full time in Karlin.
Linda, my wife, a grandmother to 3 and aunt to many,
has just retired a
Finance Manager for a
fortune 500 company. She teaches and keeps the books and designs flags in addition to
"all other
duties" at KarLin. For the past 10 years she has been active in "Aqua
Exercise" and now has many
certifications and has started a company named "Aquatic Fitness &
Health" with a partner and is
on line with her own web site aquadivas.com
This all started when my sister, Diane Carter, of Glen
Allen, Va took a course in flag making,
back in 1991. She showed Linda what she was doing and Linda got the bug and did her first
pumpkin flag
in
1992. After much searching she finally found quality supplies to craft her flags.
Linda then taught me to construct flags. If she
could teach me, a non sewer, she could teach
anyone !
Then the idea came, "Since this is so much fun, why not show others how
easy it is to do,
and
teach flag making to others." In June
of 1993 KarLin purchased 4 sewing
machines and
started to
teach at home. Then, on to teaching at adult evening schools. That
involved making kits
for
classes, mailing supplies to students after classes and so on to
today's
present Internet/mail
order business.
