Thread for Flag, Banner and
Windsocks Making
We recommend black outlining of appliqué
on ALL flags.
The reason is that
flags are usually viewed
from 10 or more feet, not the 12" to 15".
We see as
we are making them.
The colors tend to blend and
sometimes
are
indefinable at a distance when you use colored thread for satin
stitching.
If you'll
notice, ALL of the patterns we sell use black outlining. If you are
doing approximately 30" X 49"
decorative flags with all black satin
stitching
they all average 700 to 900 yards per flag.
We use 100% Polyester thread ONLY,
excepting some like to use clear nylon
for hems.
As long as the "Polyester population remains stable" we will continue
to use
100% Virgin
Polyester
thread. The thread below
has been tested for
strength, durability and above all
colorfastness. This cone is as high as a Serger
cone but much wider. Most sewers just set the cone on the table under where
the thread holder pin is located and just loop the thread up and around the pin
and through the tension. The economy is well worth the small effort when you
consider what you would have to pay for 5 1/2 spools of 1094 thread!
